Purpose
The West Virginia Convention 2010 presents practical ideas and techniques for immediate application to working situations, promotes discussion of mutual surveying and geographic information systems problems and provides an opportunity for updating knowledge in these areas.
Who Should Attend
The Convention is designed for surveyors, engineers and others involved in boundary, control, topographic, engineering, route, and construction surveying, as well as for individuals involved in cartography, photogrammetry, land and geographic-information systems, and computer–aided design and drafting.
Accommodations
Participants are responsible for their own housing arrangements. A block of rooms has been reserved for WVSPS at the Waterfront Place Hotel for conference participants. Room rates will be $89. This room rate does include parking. Please mention that you are with the WVSPS Convention when making your reservation. Reservations may be made by calling 304-296-1700. Reservations must be made by January 25 , 2010 in order to receive the special room rate. Any reservations made after that date could receive a higher room rate.
Fee and Registration
Full registration fee covers Thursday Lunch, Thursday Dinner, Friday Lunch, Friday Banquet, Saturday Breakfast and Saturday Lunch and all breaks. A late fee is added to all registrations postmarked after February 1, 2010. The registration fee may be paid by check, money order or credit card (Visa or MasterCard). To register for the convention, complete the registration form and return to WVSPS, HC 82 Box 40B, Lewisburg, WV 24901. Your receipt for registration will be emailed or paper mailed. Feel free to make as many copies of the registration form as you wish.
Exhibits
Representatives from various equipment suppliers will be present to answer questions and to demonstrate their equipment. Through these exhibits, attendees can learn about new techniques and technology in the field. Please plan on stopping in at the Exhibit Hall.
Antique Equipment Display
There will be an antique surveying instrument display organized and manned by the West Virginia Affiliate of the Surveyors Historical Society. If you have any old or antique equipment for display, please bring it with you when you register.
Spouse Program
Plan to attend, relax and enjoy yourself. The Auxiliary is planning a fun filled program. Friday morning will be their annual business meeting, with the ever so popular white elephant sale on Friday afternoon. Don’t forget to bring your wrapped gift to be auctioned to the highest bidder.
Refunds and Cancellations
Refunds of the full convention fee will be made for cancellations received in writing before February 1, 2010. After that, the individual or organization will be held responsible for the fee. Anyone who is registered but cannot attend may send a substitute. WVSPS may cancel or postpone any course or activity because of insufficient enrollment or unforeseen circumstances.
