Tree ID, Boundaries & Line Making at the 2023 Elkins Chapter Seminar
Registration for the 2023 Elkins Chapter seminar hosted by the West Virginia Society of Professional Surveyors is still available. Join the Elkins Chapter Seminar on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Leading Creek Fire Department in Kerens, WV as instructor Leon Mallow provides comprehensive instruction on Wood and Tree ID, combining both classroom and field study.
Attendees will study with Leon in the classroom for Tree and Wood Identification (1 PDH) and Boundary Determination and Line Making (2 PDH) before going out into the field. These morning courses will serve as an introduction to common terms for wood identification and characteristics of hardwoods, use of common characteristics and keys to identify provided samples, and boundary line marking. Downloadable handouts will be provided to all, as well as paper handouts if participation is not more than 25. A cost of $40 will be set for the total notebook material of Tree & Wood identification, if participants would like to purchase.

- Classroom: Tree and Wood Identification (1 PDH) 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM
- Classroom: Boundary Determination and Line Making (2 PDH) 9:45 AM – 11:15 AM
- Lunch and Silent Auction – 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM
- Class Field Participation: Boundary Determination and Line Marking (5 PDH) 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
