Drone Use for Surveying, presented by Mack McCarty, US Army Corps of Engineers – Surveying Division

Drone use for surveying is quickly becoming a fast and effective way to perform accurate surveys. Join us to hear how the US Army Corps of Engineers has integrated drones into their Surveying Division, as well as how civilian surveyors are implementing drones into their workflow.
*Mr. McCarty will also have a ACOE booth in our Expo Hall.

Guest speakers Ben Kroll from the Atlanta Drone Group and WVSPS Past-President Mack McCarty with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Surveying Division, among many other speakers in the drone industry will present short sessions about drone related topics. There will also be racing drones, Parrot hands-on experience, and an exhibition hall with drone vendors from around the state. Professor Megan Click, Director of the GST Program best described this event when she said,

“Our hope is to spotlight the growth of the drone industry, particularly here in Huntington, WV. There are many uses for drones that people are unaware of which is what the Drone Expo seeks to illustrate. For instance, Ben Kroll’s work is both commercial and industrial. His main line of work surrounds how drones can help us understand and report weather crises such as hurricanes.”

Professor Click further explained the relationship between the Drone Expo and MCTC’s GST Program,

“MCTC is the premier college in the West Virginia Community and Technical College system to host a GST program with an emphasis in drones. As such, we aim to prepare students with the necessary skills to work in the drone industry among other GST fields. We will have college representatives to speak with interested community members who wish to further their education in GST at the Drone Expo.”

MCTC is located at 1 Mountwest Way, Huntington, WV 25701. For more information on MCTC, the GST program or the Drone Expo, please visit www.mctc.edu.
