NSPS Trig-Star Competition Sponsorships Available Now
Sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors, Trig-Star is a competition that recognizes and rewards high school students who excel in mathematics, particularly Trigonometry, and their teachers. The goal of the program is to demonstrate practical uses for mathematics and bring greater awareness of the surveying profession.
The TRIG-STAR contest allows NSPS State Affiliates to sponsor unlimited TRIG-STAR contests by operation under a yearly state site license granted by NSPS. A local sponsor is still needed for each participating High School to administer the tests. The TRIG-STAR contest materials will be sent to the local sponsor from NSPS. The local sponsor must fill out the State License Local Contest Application Form. The form will be emailed to the Coordinator. The state affiliate society/coordinator will determine the state TRIG-STAR contest winner who is eligible to compete in the NSPS National Trig-Star Contest.
A local sponsor is needed for each participating High School. Find an individual sponsorship application here and a state sponsorship application here. Only one TRIG-STAR will be allowed per high school per year. The local sponsor must apply to NSPS on this application form and list the name of the High School where the contest will be held. A contest packet will be forwarded by NSPS to the local sponsor. The local sponsor will be responsible for making all the local arrangements. The winner will be eligible to compete in the NSPS National Trig-Star Contest and contest information will be supplied with the contest packet.
