Resurveying the Historic Boundary Between Baltimore and Carroll Counties, Maryland Presented by: Patrick Simon Friday, July 10, 2026, 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM EDT This seminar dives into the resurvey of the historic boundary between Baltimore and Carroll Counties, originally established in 1841. Attendees will explore the legal principles of boundary retracement, the challenges of lost monuments and conflicting deed calls, and how modern tools like GNSS and GIS are used to reconcile over 160 years of evolving surveying practice — all through real case examples drawn directly from this politically and legally significant county line. Essentials for the Small Business Presented by: Kevin Norris Friday, July 10, 2026, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT Large companies have internal accounting, human resources, and legal departments. While small companies do not have these resources, they still need to provide them. This course is intended to help the small business owner with reminders of what businesses need outside of professional services, and provide some direction on how to best use the resources you have. This course will provide an overview of business formation, contracts, record keeping, human resources, information technology, and outside services. Small business owners need to realize when they need help and where to get it. A Lunch Break will take place from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EDT How to Be An Effective Expert Witness Presented by: Kevin Norris Friday, July 10, 2026, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM EDT This interactive presentation uses real-world scenarios and direct attendee engagement to prepare surveyors for their role as expert witnesses. From the pleading and discovery phase through courtroom testimony, participants will learn how to navigate interactions with judges and opposing counsel — and understand the critical differences between being a neutral, defensive, or persuasive witness. Surveyor’s Role in Adverse Possession Presented by: Kevin Norris Friday, July 10, 2026, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM EDT Surveyors are often the first person contacted regarding adverse possession, or the surveyor needs to inform a client of an encroachment and the ensuing consequences. The course is intended to equip the surveyor with the knowledge needed to adequately inform a client about the elements of adverse possession and assist an attorney in a claim for adverse possession.
