Registration is NOW OPEN for the Polaris Celestial Observation Seminar

Surveyors, have you ever wondered how to find a true astronomical north meridian before the use of artificial GPS? Have you ever compared or checked a given GPS convergence angle to an actual star shot? Have you ever taken an actual observation of one of our many natural stars? Have you ever used or calculated astronomical meridians using ephemeris and precise time? We will take you back in time before any artificial satellites were in orbit of our planet. If your curiosity is getting the best of you, we have a seminar that will answer the questions asked above.

Session: Polaris Celestial Observation Seminar
Presented by: Robert Andriotto, Kevin Brockett and Richard Casteel
Date and Time: Friday, October 22, 2021 from 1:00PM – 8:00PM
PDH Available: 6 hours

We promise both young and old surveyors will leave this seminar with a step back in history, some greatly enhanced knowledge, and some hands-on instruction about one of our profession’s oldest methods to determine true astronomical north. We hope you can join us in this quest and grab six PDH’s in the process! This seminar will take place at Mason Dixon Historical Park in Core, WV. Included in your seminar fee will be a chance to win $200 cash in a raffle. Proceeds to benefit and enhance youth programs, educational field events for future surveyors.
