Special Message About PA SB 790 – Act Dealing with Conventional Wells

As many of our members are affected by the legislative actions taken in our bordering states, we wanted to share a recent piece of legislation currently moving through the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Pennsylvania Senate Bill 790 proposes to amend the current law regulating conventional oil and gas wells (Act 13 of 2012). In particular to us, it removes the requirement that plats accompanying permit applications need to be prepared by a “competent engineer or competent surveyor.” In place of a competent engineer or surveyor, SB 790 substitutes “a person trained in the preparation of plats.”

We need to defend against this trend here in West Virginia. This has the potential to be harmful to the public, their person, property and property rights. Do what you can to prevent or oppose this sort of thing. Education is key. Listen, learn and send us feedback.
