WVSPS Needs Your Help! Volunteer for a Committee by October 15
As we begin to roll into our new administrative year, I would like to take this opportunity to ask for your participation in one of the Society’s working committees. Your expected level of involvement can range from an hour a month on a conference call / webinar to a few additional hours completing some task. Of course, the more individuals that get involved the less time that will be asked of each individual member. I will also appoint one current board member to each committee to report the committee’s activities at our quarterly board meetings. Please read carefully through the list of committees below and let the WVSPS Administrative Office know which committee you would be interested in. We would appreciate it if you could get back to us by the end of March if you are interested. I promise that you will find your work on these committees much more rewarding than you expect. The committee are as follows:
• Education Committee – The Education committee develops, conducts, sponsors and oversees well-rounded continuing education opportunities. The current administration plans to establish a five-year calendar of events with chapter assignments for future seminars. In the next four years, I would like to see a WVSPS sponsored seminar in every major city and area in West Virginia. We, as a Society, should be the primary source for all surveying related continuing education in the state and region.
• Finance & Budget Committee – The Finance & Budget committee prepares a budget for approval by the Board and insure that an audit is completed before the third quarter Board of Directors meeting each year. This committee reviews the approved budget and the records of expenditures being made by the Society and bring to the attention of the Board any expenditures over those provided for in the budget. This committee also recommends to the Board ways and means for improving the financial condition of the Society.
Opening Soon! Registration for the 2019 WVSPS Annual Convention! Keep your eyes peeled for more information in the next few weeks.
