WVSPS Opportunity – WVFMA Conference Announcement

WV FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION
CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT
JUNE 13-15, 2016

We are pleased to announce that our Annual WVFMA Conference will be held June 13-15, 2016 at Blackwater Falls State Park Lodge, Davis, WV. This conference promises to be informative and enjoyable. Our speakers include Larry Larson, Director Emeritus of ASFPM National; Eugene Gruber, Director, Mitigation Division, FEMA Region III; Al Lisko, Director of Mitigation-NFIP in WV; Jenny Gannaway, Executive Director of VOAD, plus other notable figures from FEMA and the WV community at large. Please click here for a current agenda draft to view other topics of interest covered.

Due to severe budgetary restrictions in WV, the WV NFIP can only reimburse for single room occupancy at the Lodge and only for those Floodplain Management Administrators or municipal officials who travel more than 50 miles and attend the full conference. WV NFIP will be unable to pay for your meals or travel expenses as we have in the past.

The registration fee for attending the full three day session is $175 or $80 for one day if you register by the May 25, 2016 deadline. You will need to go online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/wvfma-2016-annual-conference-tickets-22167985040 to register. Overnight reservations at Blackwater Falls State Park can be made by calling the Lodge at 304-259-5216 . We have a block of rooms reserved at the Lodge so be sure to mention you are with the WVFMA. We encourage you to reserve your room early to assure availability at the Lodge. Optionally, for those choosing to bring families, cabins are available at higher nightly rates. We will reimburse at the single room occupancy rate of $89.00/night.

On Monday evening (June 13th), we are going to have a “Boots, Chaps, and Cowboy Hats” hoedown, cookout with catered in food, live entertainment, games and prizes. Plan to attend and come dressed as a cowboy/cowgirl or your favorite country garb for a chance to win “best dressed” and be ready to have fun!

While the conference has historically attracted mainly Floodplain Managers and Administrators, meeting content can also be of great interest to other community officials, planners, engineers, surveyors and insurance agents.

All are invited to attend and share this informative experience. We look forward to having you there.
